How Alex Crum Is Dominating Pro Pickleball—and Dropping Hits Off the Court

Alex Crum Pickleball Rise: Louisville native Alex Crum is rising fast in pro pickleball while also growing his music career. In his early 30s, Alex Crum has already beaten top-ranked players, proving his skills after a wrist injury ended his college tennis dreams. He plans to play more tournaments and focus on pickleball full time.

A Natural at the Game

Alex Crum was once a top junior tennis player at St. Xavier High School, where he helped win three state titles. A serious wrist injury in college forced him to stop competing in tennis. But less than two years ago, he tried pickleball and felt comfortable right away.

“I was able to beat somebody in the top 50 in the world with little to no practice so that gave me the confidence to throw my hat in the arena so to speak,”(Alex Crum).

Big Wins and New Goals

While working full time as a tennis teacher in Florida, East Hampton, and Maine, Alex Crum has played in about a dozen pickleball tournaments. Last month, he defeated the No. 1 players on two different tours in just five days.

“It’s changed things in a lot of ways,”. “Not internally or anything. I always knew I was capable. But those couple of victories have now presented me with an opportunity to pursue pickleball full time which was my goal coming into the summer.”(Alex Crum)

Music and Media

The wins have also helped Alex Crum’s music get more attention. He has been rapping for much of his life. He recently filmed a video for his song “Anna Bright,” named after a top female pickleball player.

“You can write the best song of all-time but if nobody hears it who cares, right,”. “Now that I have a little more of a platform, I was planning on recording music this summer anyway before any of this happened, but now I have a few more eyeballs on me, I might as well.”(Alex Crum)

The song has already earned over 250,000 views. Along with music, Alex Crum also co-hosts a pickleball podcast to connect with fans.

Future Plans

Alex Crum aims to compete in 20 to 25 tournaments each year and hopes to become the No. 1 pickleball player in the world. His rapid progress and dedication make that goal seem possible.
