James Ignatowich Reveals Game-Changing Topspin Dink Secrets for Pickleball Dominance

James Ignatowich’s Pickleball Topspin Strategy: Pickleball professional James Ignatowich has shared helpful tips for players who want to master right-side positioning. His focus is on using topspin dinks to take time away from opponents, control rallies, and stay aggressive on the court. Ignatowich explained that this approach keeps players in charge rather than letting opponents dictate play.

Building a Strong Base

James Ignatowich demonstrated how to lean in and push the ball forward while taking dinks out of the air. He said, “leaning in pushing the ball forward instead of when you’re on the right just slicing your dinks letting every ball bounce and kind of deferring to your opponent letting them take control of the rally.”

He explained that right-side players should stay aggressive because they cover less court if they are right-handed. Ignatowich suggested players create a wide base to help avoid pop-ups. He shared, “if you’re straight up like this taking the dink out of the air it’s tougher to not pop it up so I like to make a wide base keep my head still and then push it forward.”

Proper Technique for Control

He also talked about the importance of wrist control. He explained that too much wrist movement can cause mistakes. “It’s not coming from my wrist if you’re doing a lot of this with your wrist with your out of the air dinks on the right that can cause some problems and it can cause some pop-ups,” he said.

Instead, he recommended having a fixed but relaxed wrist while using the arm to push the ball forward. “I like to have a pretty fixed but loose wrist and then push forward with my arm keep my head still and go pretty aggressive with these dinks when I can,” he added.

Improving Communication and Confidence

James Ignatowich’s advice is also about staying confident and clear with a partner. Learning how to position the body and paddle can help players communicate better and cover the court together.

These skills give right-side players more options to play fast and keep opponents guessing. More players are using these techniques to improve their game and win more points in rallies.
