James Ignatowich Reveals Game-Changing Pickleball Serve Trick for More Topspin

James Ignatowich Pickleball Serve Tips: Pickleball player James Ignatowich has explained a smart way for athletes to add topspin to their serves. In a lesson shared on Selkirk TV, James Ignatowich showed that keeping the arm loose and tossing the ball forward are the main steps to get more topspin in pickleball games.

Keeping the Arm Loose for More Spin

James Ignatowich said that a relaxed arm helps players brush up under the ball and lift it faster. “Hey guys, James Ignado here. We’re going to talk about getting maximum topspin on your serve,” he said when starting the lesson.

He added that he likes to use a shorter swing but others might choose a bigger one. “I’m not using a huge swing on my serve. It’s actually a pretty small swing, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t. I know some people that have great serves that have a pretty big swing, but I think the main key component to this shot is having a super loose arm when you execute the shot,” James Ignatowich explained.

Making Space for the Perfect Serve

James Ignatowich described a problem he often sees: players toss the ball too close to their body. This makes it harder to swing freely. “So, for me, I toss it in front so that I have all the room in the world to have a loose arm,” he said.

He reminded players not to worry too much about missing serves sometimes. Staying confident and aiming deep helps build a stronger game. “And ultimately, if I miss the serve sometimes deep, not that big of a deal. Um, for me, I’ll miss like one out of 10, one out of 12 of my serves. It’s important to hit it deep, be aggressive with it. And, um, if you can take advantage with it, that would be great,” James Ignatowich shared.

Learning to Stay Aggressive

James Ignatowich also demonstrated how his topspin serve looks in action and encouraged others to keep practicing. He ended the lesson by inviting players to stay connected.

This advice is likely to help many pickleball players grow their skills and build more confidence when serving in matches.
