AI-powered line Pickleball Technology: Pickleball Inc. has partnered with PlayReplay, a top sports tech company, to bring AI-powered line calling and player tracking to the sport of pickleball. The agreement makes Pickleball Inc. the exclusive global distributor of PlayReplay’s technology in pickleball.
Advanced Technology for Fair Play
The goal of the partnership is to improve fairness and accuracy in officiating by using PlayReplay’s system. This AI technology uses cameras to track ball placement, foot faults, and kitchen violations in real time. The system also gives live voice calls on the court.
“Our goal is to reduce tension and human error in officiating. In tennis, our AI-driven systems have transformed line calling—and we’re excited to bring the same clarity and fairness to pickleball.”(Hans Lundstam, CEO and Co-founder of PlayReplay)
PlayReplay offers two modes—Review and Live. In Review mode, players can challenge calls with animated replays. In Live mode, the system calls out “out” or “fault” in real time. Lundstam added,
“You can even customize the voice—or make it fun with something like a lion’s roar.”
Big Changes Coming in 2026
The technology will debut in 2026, when the United Pickleball Association’s new prize money model begins for the PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball. This model raises the stakes, increasing the need for clear, accurate officiating.
Pickleball Inc. and PlayReplay want to avoid disputes and cheating by letting AI make neutral and precise calls. Four small cameras will be placed on the net posts to track every play without distracting players or fans.
A Tool for All Levels
The system is not just for pro events. Pickleball Inc. plans to bring the tech to local clubs and public courts across the country. The goal is to make professional tools available to all players, helping them improve and compete fairly.
“This isn’t just about pro events. We believe in democratizing access to performance data. Our partnership with Pickleball Inc. will help bring that vision to life—giving amateur players access to elite-level insights and fair play.”(Hans Lundstam)
Recreational players will be able to track their stats, review matches, and monitor improvement over time. Facilities can install the system easily without changing court layouts.
Data That Powers the Future
PlayReplay’s technology also tracks player stats such as shot type, ball speed, spin rate, and shot placement. The system uses AI to understand each frame and learns over time. So far, it has recorded over 100 million line calls in more than 250,000 matches.
“We’re digesting the most essential information from every frame and using AI to interpret what’s happening. Over time, the system gets smarter as we feed it more data—creating deeper insights for players at all levels.”(Hans Lundstam)
Growing the Game Through Innovation
This partnership marks a big step in modernizing pickleball. It brings more fairness to matches and better training tools for players everywhere. With AI doing the hard work, athletes and fans can enjoy a smoother, more exciting game.
News in Brief: AI-powered line Pickleball Technology
Pickleball Inc. has partnered with PlayReplay to launch AI line calling and performance tracking in 2026. The system, using small cameras and live voice calls, will first appear in the PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball. It will expand to clubs and parks to help players of all levels improve.
