Roscoe Bellamy Reveals 5 Pro Pickleball Tactics That Instantly Elevate Your Game

Roscoe Bellamy’s Pickleball Strategies: Professional pickleball player Roscoe Bellamy has revealed five key strategies that help players win more points, no matter their skill level. These tactics are used at the pro level and can help everyday players improve their game starting today.

Setting the Trap: The Counter Punch

Roscoe Bellamy introduced the first tip called the “counter punch” or “bait and burn.” The idea is to give your opponent a ball that looks like a good one to attack. But when they take the bait, you’re ready to counter hard.

“This works best against players who are trigger happy. You give them a ball that is very questionable whether to attack or not, but I know that he’s very trigger happy… I’m able to sit hard on it and counter.”(Roscoe Bellamy)

The key is patience. Wait for your opponent to make the first move, then respond with speed and control.

Finding the Weak Spot: Wing Attack

The second move is the “wing attack.” Instead of hitting near the middle of the body, aim to target your opponent’s sides—especially their weaker side.

“Identify the weaker side. “Make sure you’re behind the ball and always make it a two-shot combo.”(Roscoe Bellamy)

This approach stretches your opponent and reduces their power. Use this to force a weak return, then go in for the winning shot.

Pressure Cooker: Targeting Weakness

Next is the “pressure cooker,” a strategy that focuses on repeating shots to your opponent’s weak side. It requires patience and discipline but is highly effective.

“If your opponent has a clear weakness, your job isn’t to blast through it. It’s to lean on it, apply pressure, stay patient, and let them crack.”(Roscoe Bellamy)

This is best used against players who rely too much on one side, like a weak backhand.

Roll and Lean: Use Spin to Move Opponents

The “roll and lean” is about using topspin dinks to move your opponent off balance and open up space.

“You take one step back to create more room… then lean in and attack out of the air,” (Roscoe Bellamy).

This strategy tricks opponents into thinking they have more space, giving you a chance to surprise them with a strong follow-up shot.

The Triangle Attack: Predict and Strike

The last strategy is the “triangle attack.” It focuses on using a crossbody shot followed by an early move to the next spot for a second attack.

“When you attack someone crossbody, their counter is almost always going in the opposite direction,” (Roscoe Bellamy).

By planning the combo and being in the right place, you can finish the point quickly. It works especially well against players who crowd the net or lack power.

Giving Players Confidence

Roscoe Bellamy believes these strategies help players feel more confident and ready.

“Having smart strategies in your toolbox gives you real confidence on the court. Start using these five today and trust me, people will notice the difference.”(Roscoe Bellamy)
