Game Changer: Coach-Assigned DUPR Ratings Set to Transform Junior Pickleball Competition

Coach-Assigned DUPR Ratings for Juniors: National Junior Pickleball (NJP) has partnered with MyJourney Pickleball (MJP) to launch a new system called Coach-Assigned DUPR Ratings for young pickleball players. With the help of the My DUPR Coach app, players between 8 and 18 years old can now be officially rated by certified coaches before entering any NJP event. This new system is meant to ensure fair and competitive matches for all players.

The Coach-Assigned DUPR Rating helps young athletes get matched with others at their skill level. It is now easier for players to enter their first tournaments with a trusted rating, even before playing their first game. NJP believes this will lead to better events, fair competition, and a more fun experience for junior players.

New Partnership Aims to Grow Junior Pickleball

This new effort is a big step for the future of junior pickleball in the United States. National Junior Pickleball and MyJourney Pickleball want to make sure that all players—whether they are new or experienced—can enjoy fair and competitive games.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to making sure every junior has the chance to compete against peers at their skill level, using the most trusted rating system in the sport,”

said Courtney Loughridge, Founder and CEO of National Junior Pickleball.

“With MyJourney Pickleball and DUPR, we’re giving families a reliable way to prepare for events, grow in the sport, and connect with a larger community of junior players.”

Using the My DUPR Coach app, Master DUPR Coaches will watch videos of players’ games and assign ratings based on their skill level. This helps players who do not have a rating get one before entering events, which makes tournament planning easier and more accurate.

Helping Players, Coaches, and Families

The new Coach-Assigned DUPR system helps everyone involved in the sport. Players get fair matches, coaches can guide improvement, and parents can track their child’s progress.

“This is a major step forward for the sport of pickleball,”. “The Coach-Assigned DUPR gives juniors a path to get rated before they even step into their first match.

It also helps coaches guide development, parents and players track progress, and events maintain the integrity of competition.”(Tito Machado, CEO of DUPR)

The new system also makes it easy for coaches to assign ratings to kids around the world. The app allows coaches to review match videos remotely and give ratings, making it scalable and simple.

“National Junior Pickleball is critical to the future of pickleball, representing the 8–18 age group that makes up a large and rapidly growing segment of the millions entering the sport,”

said Katie Nimitz, President of MyJourney Pickleball.

“With DUPR Coach, credentialed coaches can now assign a DUPR Rating to junior players anywhere in the world, simply through uploaded match film.

It’s remote, scalable, and purpose-built to support their development. We’re proud to help bring this level of access and opportunity to the next generation of players.”

Building a Community for Young Players

National Junior Pickleball is not just about competition. It’s also about building friendships and a community for young players and their families. With the help of the Coach-Assigned DUPR system, NJP is now offering even more support and structure to its players.
