DJ Young Pickleball Fatherhood Journey: DJ Young, Bay Area Breakers (MLP) star and UPA Tour Pro, is enjoying life as a father. He and his wife, Courtney Young, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Leighton, on March 23, 2024. The couple announced in May that they are expecting their second child, due September 2, 2024.
Joys of Fatherhood
“Being a dad is awesome. There’s nothing that brings a smile more often to me than looking at my daughter,”
DJ Young said. He enjoys watching Leighton develop her personality and laugh with them. He also loves seeing her reach milestones, like taking her first steps or trying new foods such as pizza.

Despite a busy schedule of training, traveling, and competing in professional pickleball, DJ Young prioritizes family.
“Leighton is my first child, so I really don’t know any different than constantly traveling like this. The way I look at it is that playing pickleball is how I’m able to provide for my family, so it’s a blessing,”
he explained.
“And it’s a good thing because when I’m home, I spend as much time as possible with her and can be completely present in the moment.”

Excitement for Baby Number Two
The Youngs are preparing to welcome their second child in early September. DJ Young shared his excitement, saying,
“I’m so excited to have another because growing up I had a brother and a sister, so I never wanted to just have one kid. I had the best experience with my siblings. Being able to give that to my daughter is just super special to me.”
He also acknowledged the challenges ahead.
“I’m not stressed out at all, but I know it’s going to be crazy having two kids. That’s a lot,”
DJ Young said.
“We’ve had so many people say that having your first kid is a big change, but having your second is an even bigger change. But I couldn’t be more excited.”
