Bethel Coach Turns Dream Into Reality With Grand Opening of Stars Lab Sports Facility

Bethel Stars Lab Sports Facility Opening: Bethel-native coach Lidania Cibere officially opened her new Stars Lab sports facility on the Danbury border Friday, turning a dream she first sketched on a napkin two years ago into reality. The 16,000-square-foot center offers space for volleyball, basketball, pickleball, and fitness.

A Place for the Community

Cibere, who has coached volleyball for nearly 20 years at Ridgefield High School and with her CT Stars Volleyball Club, said her goal was to create a local space for activity.
“It was really important to create a space where kids and adults can be active and have that right here in Bethel,” Cibere said.

The new building includes three volleyball courts, three basketball courts, six pickleball courts, a weight room, and a parent viewing area. It was designed to give Bethel residents access to high-quality sports and recreation opportunities.

Deep Roots in Bethel

Cibere grew up in Bethel, where sports became part of her life alongside her sisters. She was captain of her high school tennis, basketball, and volleyball teams. Later, as head coach of Ridgefield High School boys volleyball, she led the team to a state championship in 2023 and also in 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Giving Back Through Sports

The Stars Lab reflects Cibere’s commitment to supporting her hometown and building opportunities for athletes of all ages. For her, the project is both personal and professional, tying her career achievements to the place where her love of sports began.
