From Pickleball to the Kitchen: How Tara Bernstein’s Marriage to Guy Fieri’s Son Is Serving Up Surprising Life Lessons

Tara Bernstein Pickleball Family Lessons: Professional pickleball player Tara Bernstein is settling into married life with new husband Hunter Fieri and learning unexpected lessons from her father-in-law, celebrity chef Guy Fieri. Bernstein shared that Guy Fieri has been encouraging her to try new foods and cooking skills since the couple’s wedding on August 30 in Sonoma, California.

Family Celebration

Hunter Fieri, age 29, and Tara Bernstein, age 28, were married at the Fieri family’s HuntRyde Ranch. Their wedding welcomed 350 guests and included a “Denim & Diamonds” themed party, a petting zoo, and a custom cake created by Buddy Valastro, star of Cake Boss.

Lessons from Guy Fieri

Bernstein said Guy Fieri has already influenced her in positive ways.
“There’s just so many different fun versions of him, and we always have a blast all together as a family,” she said, describing the Food Network star as “super big on being family-oriented.”

She added, “Everyone has crazy busy lives, but it’s so important to just spend that quality time. So it’s been really fun.”

Stepping Out of Comfort Zones

Bernstein admitted she was never “a big food person or cooking girl” but is now trying new ingredients.
“He’s taught me a lot about knife skills,” she said. “[Guy] encourages me to learn different things and try new foods because I have been a picky eater.”

At first, she stuck to pasta and fries during family meals, but with encouragement, she now enjoys dishes like tuna. “It’s been nice to have a father-in-law that is open to teaching me new things that I haven’t ever tried before,” she explained.

Hunter Fieri also noticed the change. “The look on my face, I mean, you should have seen it,” he said. “I was just like, ‘You were ordering what? Tuna?’ See, I couldn’t get her to eat tuna for the longest time.”

A Shared Exchange

Bernstein admitted she sometimes felt “embarrassed” about being picky, especially when friends commented, “You probably eat the best food in the world.” But she now sees her new family as helping her grow. “It’s so interesting now because I’ve never really stepped outside of my comfort zone and it’s been able to help me take those steps,” she said.

In return, Bernstein is teaching both Hunter Fieri and Guy Fieri her own sport. “I learned some nice skills,” she said. “I can do all of that, and then after take them down on the pickleball court.”

Looking Ahead

The newlyweds said their celebration was joyful but lively. “It’s controlled chaos over here,” Hunter Fieri explained, while Bernstein added, “Like a mini Stagecoach.” Hunter summed it up: “We just want to hang out with our friends, have some good food, and just enjoy ourselves. It’s just all of the people who mean the most to us.”
