Roscoe Bellamy Reveals the Secret to Winning with Aggressive Pickleball—Are You Attacking Smart Enough?

Roscoe Bellamy shared expert pickleball tips in a new video guide about playing with aggression. The video explains how top players attack with purpose, create pressure, and force opponents into mistakes. Bellamy breaks down the difference between smart attacks and careless shots while showing techniques that raise winning chances.

Attacking With Intention

Roscoe Bellamy explained that strong attackers keep their opponents under pressure. He said the goal is not only hitting winners but also pushing opponents into errors.
“This means the world to Yorkton Pickleball, it’s members, new players, and the City of Yorkton,” he told Yorkton This Week.

Bellamy showed how effective attackers control rallies and wait for the right ball to attack. “So rather than just waiting for those opportunities to come for me, I’m creating them,” he explained.

Creating an Attackable Ball

According to Bellamy, attackers create chances by using sharp dinks, deception, and movement at the kitchen line. This pressure forces weak returns, giving players ideal balls to strike.
“Great example there where I’m using pressure to push him off balance and I’m looking for that opportunity,” he said.

Bellamy added that by staying aggressive with dinks, players increase their odds of hitting higher percentage attacks.

Recognizing an Attackable Ball

Bellamy said successful attacks start with spotting the right ball. Players should look for shots at net height or above, balls with less speed, and opponents who are off balance.
“So that’s good example. It was sitting. It was higher and I was able to attack. He was out of position cuz I just pushed him out to the forehand,” he explained.

He also warned against attacking the wrong shots. “It’s a bad example there. I’m speeding up when he has good pace. The ball’s still fairly low. I’m not in position. That’s what we don’t want to do,” Bellamy said.

Fundamentals of Attacking

Bellamy outlined three basics of smart attacking: proper footwork, using combinations instead of one-shot winners, and creating multiple attack options.
“So you can see there I’m waiting for that right ball, right? I’m creating it by moving him around. I’m making sure that I’m lined up behind the ball and I have options there,” he explained.

This method, he said, helps players win more exchanges over time.

Off the Bounce Attack

Bellamy explained how to attack off the bounce. He advised players to keep the paddle tip down, arrive early, and add a slight pause before striking. This hesitation, he said, makes counters harder.
“So, paddle tip down and then that slight pause before you speed up. It’s going to help a lot,” Bellamy added.

Out of the Air Attack

Bellamy also described how to attack balls taken out of the air. He warned against rushing low balls and stressed the need to choose shots wisely.
“So, you have to be very picky with which balls you’re attacking out of the air,” Bellamy said.

He added that players should move their feet instead of reaching. Staying behind the ball, he explained, helps control attacks better.

Building a Learning Community

At the end, Bellamy introduced his project called the Pickleball Collective. He said it is an online community for serious players.
“I’ll personally email you the moment we launch,” he told viewers. “If you’re ready to level up and join a community that’s all about serious improvement, this is for you.”

He reminded players that success comes from smart attacking, not just hitting harder. “Becoming a highle attacker will give you ultimate confidence on the court and will make you a threat to your opponents,” Bellamy said.
