Inside Brit Loong’s Playful World: What It’s Really Like to Be Married to a Pro Pickleball Star

Brit Loong Pickleball Family Life: Brit Loong, wife of professional pickleball player Tyler Loong, opened up about the unique lifestyle of being married to an athlete. She shared details about how their family balances travel, tournaments, and raising two young daughters while supporting Tyler’s career on the court.

Adjusting to the Pro Pickleball Lifestyle

Brit explained that pickleball has been part of their life since the start of their marriage.
“Tyler has always played pickleball ever since we got married. Obviously, pro pickleball has changed a lot since then, so he’s traveling more now,” she said. “But it’s what he’s always done. He never had a desk job or a 9-to-5 career, so it’s all I’ve ever known.”

How Their Story Began

The couple first met at Brigham Young University.
“We met when we were in college at BYU. It was actually kind of an interesting situation. Tyler dated my roommate, and I dated someone who was on the tennis team with him,” she shared. “I knew who Tyler was, just from seeing him around, and I always thought he was really cute. When I first met him, I thought he was really funny and he would joke around with me and give me a hard time. I guess I always thought he was a little annoying, but it was all in good fun, and I loved his sense of humor.”

Later, they reconnected after graduation. “Then we reconnected a couple of years later after college and we’ve been together ever since,” Brit added.

The couple married in 2015. They welcomed their daughter Ivy in 2020 and their second daughter Blair in 2021.

Traveling as a Family

Managing tournaments with children can be a challenge. Brit said travel is limited but enjoyable when possible.
“I don’t travel to tournaments with him very often because our girls are young, but when I do, I’ll bring them and we’ll make a fun trip out of it,” she said. “San Clemente is one of our favorites, but sometimes I’ll just fly to the tournaments by myself and leave the girls at home because it’s a lot harder to travel with kids between the flights, hotels, and long days. But it’s really fun to see him be able to do something that he loves and he’s really passionate about. Yes, it’s still work, but it doesn’t feel burdensome for him to go to work every day. I love that he’s able to do something that he loves, and it’s so good for us to support him doing that.”

Pickleball at Home

Though the Loongs have a backyard pickleball court, Brit said their games are casual.
“I play pickleball with some friends, but I’m not super competitive about it. I actually don’t think it’s helpful at all for him to play with me,” she mentioned. “Sometimes Tyler and I will go in the backyard and hit around, which is always fun, but he’s not competitive with me at all. Half the time when he and I are out there playing he’s either barefoot or in sandals and not taking it seriously at all. We’re just out there having fun.”

What It Means for the Future

Brit’s story highlights the reality of life as a pickleball spouse. While it involves travel and time apart, it also offers moments of joy, family bonding, and the chance to support a passion. For the Loong family, pickleball is not just a sport—it is part of their lifestyle.
