“I, like to change up my communication style based on my particular player somewhat more, somewhat less, and I have to be conscientious of that.”
He praised the team’s veteran leadership, noting that most players have experience in both old-school and new-school pickleball.

The Brooklyn Pickleball team faced challenges with player availability. Some events were played without male players, requiring both alternates. Most events needed at least one alternate. Kyle McKenzie said this was an opportunity to
“work on our team positivity, build each other up.”
He highlighted contributions from the women players and AJ Kohler, noting,
“We leaned heavily on our women who came in very clutch, but we were lucky enough to have AJ Kohler for a long part of the season, and he he stepped it up significantly and put us in a great position to be the four seed despite those challenges.”
