Which Pickleball Ball Reigns Supreme? New 2025 Test Reveals Surprising Winners and Losers

Pickleball Ball Performance Comparison: Braden from Pickle Ball Effect compared five of the most popular outdoor pickleball balls in a new 2025 update. The test measured power, pop, bounce, spin, feel, durability, and price to help players see how each ball performs. The balls tested were the Lifetime LT Pro 48, Vulcan V Pro Flight, Selkirk Pro S1, Franklin X40, and Onyx Dura.

How the Test Was Done

Braden hit 10 serves as hard as possible with each ball to measure power and repeated the process with 10 punch volleys to track pop. Spin was tested by hitting 10 topspin serves and measuring the ball’s revolutions per minute. Bounce was measured by dropping each ball from a fence and recording rebound height. Feel and durability were judged through regular play.

Power and Pop Results

The Onyx Dura and Lifetime LT Pro 48 produced the most power, with the Franklin X40 finishing at the bottom. In pop, the Dura and LT Pro 48 again led the group, while the Selkirk Pro S1 and Vulcan V Pro Flight ranked in the middle and stayed well ahead of the Franklin X40.

Bounce and Spin Findings

The Lifetime LT Pro 48 had the highest bounce, measuring between 25.5 and 27 inches, followed by the Onyx Dura. The Franklin X40 had the lowest bounce. Over time, the bounce of the LT Pro 48 decreased to levels close to the X40 after about an hour of play. The Franklin X40 ranked highest in spin at 664 RPMs, with a gradual drop down to the Vulcan V Pro Flight.

Feel and Durability

The Lifetime LT Pro 48 felt the softest, followed by the Franklin X40, Vulcan V Pro Flight, Selkirk Pro S1, and Onyx Dura. Despite its soft feel, the LT Pro 48 still played faster than the others. For durability, the Franklin X40 and LT Pro 48 kept their round shape the longest. The Onyx Dura was most likely to crack, while the Vulcan V Pro Flight showed decent strength.

Price and Value

Prices for all five balls were close, but the Franklin X40 and Lifetime LT Pro 48 offered the best value because they lasted longer and held their shape. These features made them more reliable for extended play.

What It Means for Players

This comparison gives players clear data to pick the right ball for their game. The Lifetime LT Pro 48 combines speed and softness, the Franklin X40 offers strong spin and long-lasting durability, and the Onyx Dura delivers top power but cracks more easily. Players can now match ball choice to indoor or outdoor conditions.
