DC DPR Pickleball Challenge Starts from 24th August

DC DPR Pickleball Challenge: The 2024 DC DPR Pickleball Challenge and Senior Games, a pivotal event for pickleball enthusiasts, will take place from August 24 to August 25, 2024. Hosted indoors at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center, Washington DC’s premier tennis facility, this tournament promises to be a highlight of the pickleball calendar. Competitors will face off in Men’s and Women’s Doubles on August 24 and Mixed Doubles on August 25. This tournament is a key qualifying event for the National Senior Games in Des Moines, IA, for players aged 50 and over, and is also part of the United Pickleball State Championships series.

DC DPR Pickleball Challenge Format and Qualification

The DC DPR Pickleball Challenge operates under a round-robin format for all events. Depending on the number of teams, events may be divided into pools, with the top teams from each pool advancing to a playoff. In events with two pools, the winners of each pool will compete for the Gold medal, while the second-place teams will compete for the Bronze. The tournament reserves the right to adjust the bracket format and the number of rounds to ensure a fair number of games for each participant.

This event is integral to the United Pickleball State Championships series. Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalists will automatically secure invitations to the UPA World Championship in Dallas, TX. Gold medalists will have their registration fees waived, while Silver and Bronze Medalists will receive reduced fees.

Venue and Additional Information

The Southeast Tennis and Learning Center, located at 701 Mississippi Ave SE, Washington, DC, is an indoor facility with 22 courts. It features a tennis hardcourt surface and uses Vulcan VPRO Flight balls. Participants are reminded to adhere to the facility’s policies: non-marking court shoes are required, no food or beverages (except water) are allowed on the courts, and chewing gum is prohibited. There will be a separate lounge area for players and spectators.
