Maryland Pickleball Open: The Maryland Pickleball Open, scheduled for August 29 to September 1, 2024, is part of the PPA’s UPA World Championship Series. Medalists in each event will qualify for the UPA Championship, taking place from November 4 to November 10, 2024, in Texas. Gold Medalists receive 100% off registration, Silver Medalists receive 50% off, and Bronze Medalists get 33% off their registration fees for the national championship.

Registration and Fees
- Amateur Events: $80 registration fee, including the first event. Each additional event costs $20.
- Open Play Events: Higher fees (details below).
- Additional Fees: PickleballBrackets.com charges an extra $5 per event, with a maximum of $10.
- Registration Deadline: Register by August 5 to receive a tournament T-shirt. Post-August 5, shirts will be available for purchase.
Maryland Pickleball Open Tournament Format
- General Rules:
- 2024 USA Pickleball Rules apply.
- Age bracket based on the youngest partner’s age as of 12/31/2024.
- Skill level is based on the highest skill level of the team.
- Players can play down in age and up in skill.
- Amateur Events:
- Singles: One game to 11 points, win by 2.
- Doubles: One game to 15 points, win by 2.
- Skill Levels: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, Open.
- Age Groups: 34 and under, 35-49, 50+, 60+.
- Event Management: Tournament directors may combine events based on skill or age to enhance the playing experience. Changes to partners are not allowed after draws are finalized.
Partner Policies
- Registration Confirmation: Players must be paid and have a registered and paid partner. Those without a partner or payment may be moved to the waitlist if the division fills up.
- Partner Replacement: If a partner is lost, the replacement must be from the same skill/age group and known 2 days before the match. Replacements must be communicated to the registration contact.
