JW Johnson Offers Pickleball Clinics in Michigan: This weekend, Michigan will host one of the world’s premier pickleball players, as James JW Johnson arrives to conduct a series of clinics. At only 21, Johnson, who made headlines as the youngest player to win the men’s pickleball singles title at 19, is currently ranked 4th on the PPA Tour in doubles, 4th in mixed men’s doubles, and 12th in singles.
Clinics Offer Expert Training
Johnson, along with his family—Julie Johnson, a former #1 APP Tour senior pro, and Jack Johnson, a coach and instructor—will be at PickleRage in West Bloomfield on Saturday, September 7. The day will feature two clinics aimed at different skill levels:
- Intermediate Clinic (9am – 11am): Focuses on refining forehands and backhands, mastering the third shot, and other techniques to elevate players to a 4.0 skill level.
- Advanced Clinic (Noon – 2pm): Emphasizes a professional mindset for tournament success, advanced shots, and strategic play for both singles and doubles.
Clinic Details and Venue
PickleRage offers the clinics free for members and $150 for non-members. The newly opened PickleRage facility, located at 7290 Orchard Lake Road, spans 32,000 square feet and features nine U.S. Open outdoor-style professional courts.
Monthly memberships are available, and visitors are welcome to reserve courts or enjoy open play. The facility also includes leagues, events, round robins, and a pro shop.
