Pickleball World Cup Awards:  The Pickleball World Cup wrapped up earlier this week, with participants from over 40 countries showcasing incredible skill and determination. Hosted on an international stage, this year’s event saw Puerto Rico take home the championship, while the tournament highlighted individual excellence through several awards.

Puerto Rico Triumphs as Team Champions

In a display of skill and teamwork, Team Puerto Rico clinched the title as Pickleball World Cup champions. This victory marks a significant milestone for the Puerto Rican team, who outperformed strong contenders from around the globe. The event hosted over 500 players, with Puerto Rico’s consistent performance ensuring their place at the top.

Bruno Semino: Most Valuable Player (MVP)

Bruno Semino, a standout local player, took home the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, creating a historic moment at this year’s tournament. Semino reflected on the success of his team and the growth of their skill level, particularly praising the Peruvian team’s silver-medal finish.

What an amazing experience and performance of the Peruvian Team to achieve the silver medal at the Pickleball World Cup 2024. It was a huge improvement of the team’s level as a whole. Game by game we were learning and putting into practice our best Pickleball possible, and that gave us a huge reward,” -Semino

Jerry Beck: Best Captain

Adding to the individual accolades, Jerry Beck of the Cayman Islands was recognized with the ‘Best Captain’ award. Beck’s leadership played a pivotal role in guiding his team, with his strategic mindset and encouragement fostering a cohesive and driven team dynamic throughout the tournament.

Fair Play Award Winners and Silver Medalists

Chinese Taipei’s Chun-Yu Liu and Panama’s Arantza Benites were both honored with the Fair Play award for their exemplary sportsmanship in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively. Their conduct and dedication on the court set a standard for fair play and integrity. Additionally, India’s Suraj Desai and his partner Himansh Mehta won the silver medal in the Open category, marking a significant achievement for the Indian team.
