The Picklr Debuts in Biloxi, Bringing Players Together On and Off the Court

The Picklr Debuts in Biloxi: Within a month, the pickleball community in Biloxi will be celebrating the opening of The Picklr, a state-of-the-art indoor facility ready to cater to players of all levels. Set to open on December 14th, this facility along Pass Road aims to be the one-stop destination for pickleball players across South Mississippi. With amenities like a full pro shop, premium court options, and club facilities, The Picklr promises an unparalleled experience, rain or shine.

“We’re going to be the one stop shop. We’re going to have a full pro shop, all of your pickleball gear that you need, all of the paddles, all of the brands. We’re going to have premium courts, a premium club, everything is for the players.” – (David Johnston)

David Johnston, the visionary behind The Picklr, grew up in the area and knows firsthand the weather challenges that can disrupt a good game.

“I can’t even put words to how excited we are to have it coming to town. I grew up here, I started playing pickleball here and all the times we had the weather delays and the bugs biting you and it’s windy outside, cold, hot, all that. You don’t have to worry about it now, you just come play in the AC.” – (David Johnston)

His goal is to create a place where players won’t be held back by the heat, wind, or mosquitoes—a common setback for outdoor pickleball courts in Mississippi. For Johnston, The Picklr isn’t just a facility; it’s a chance to give back to the community he loves.

A Facility Built with Players in Mind

The Picklr is more than just a collection of courts. From sound-deadening walls to overhead lighting tailored to optimize gameplay visibility, every aspect of the facility has been thoughtfully designed with the player experience in mind.

The courts feature an outdoor surface but are protected indoors, ensuring the game feels authentic but comfortable. Johnston has also planned out options for walk-ins and reservations, making it accessible whether players are dropping in or planning a session.

Alongside top-quality pickleball courts, The Picklr will offer various membership levels, tournaments, and clinics to accommodate everyone from beginners to experienced players.

With 15 total courts, Johnston envisions the facility as a unifying force for the pickleball community in South Mississippi. The facility stands as a landmark for the region’s players to connect and grow as a community.

Building a Pickleball Community in South Mississippi

The Picklr is positioned to be a community hub where players can refine their skills, build friendships, and connect over a shared passion for pickleball. Johnston’s vision goes beyond simply providing a place to play; he aims to create a lasting gathering space for pickleball players across the region.

By offering specialized clinics, tournaments, and community events, The Picklr will bring South Mississippi players together under one roof. From early risers to night owls, the facility’s extended hours—seven days a week, eighteen hours a day—ensure that everyone has an opportunity to play.

“Not only can you play seven days a week, eighteen hours a day if you wanted to, it has fifteen courts so you can bring a lot more people in there. So, where you have these small groups that play in a lot of different areas, this gives you one big place where everyone can all connect as a big community and come together and play together.” – (David Johnston)

As excitement builds for the opening, Johnston’s ultimate hope is for The Picklr to be a welcoming space for new players while also giving seasoned players a facility they can rely on. “We’re going to be the one-stop shop,” Johnston explained, emphasizing the comprehensive offerings available to players.

With its grand opening around the corner, The Picklr is set to transform Biloxi’s pickleball landscape and create a place where the sport’s vibrant community can thrive.
