Andy Roddick Roasts Andre Agassi’s Pickleball Obsession Ahead of Pickleball Slam 3 Showdown

Andy Roddick Roasts Andre Agassi: Andre Agassi and Eugenie Bouchard recently sparked laughter by claiming they initially confused their Pickleball Slam 3 partner Andy Roddick with former British tennis star Andy Murray. The amusing mix-up has added a humorous touch to the buildup for the highly anticipated event.

Pickleball Slam 3, set for February 16, 2025, at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, USA, will see Agassi and his wife, Steffi Graf, defending their title against newcomers Andy Roddick and Eugenie Bouchard. The stakes are high with a million-dollar prize pool on the line, but the promotional activities have kept things lighthearted.

Agassi: “I Thought It Was Andy Murray”

In a video posted to the Pickleball Slam Instagram account, Agassi sat beside Graf and reflected on his initial reaction to the lineup.

“When I heard I was facing Andy in the Pickleball Slam 3, I gotta admit, I was a little worried. I thought it was Andy Murray.” – (Agassi)

Genie Bouchard, joined the fun in a separate video featuring her and Roddick speaking alternately. “When I first got the call, I thought it was Andy Murray they were talking about,” Bouchard quipped. She then humorously added, “I’m not picky, I would even play with Bill Murray.”

Roddick, not missing the chance to respond, said,

“It’s obvious that having me as a partner was a big reason why Genie wanted to play the slam this year.” – (Roddick)

Roddick Declares Agassi and Graf as Underdogs

The playful rivalry continued as Roddick shared his thoughts on the competition. In another Instagram video, he declared Agassi and Graf the underdogs despite their stellar records.

“Andre and Steffi are absolutely the underdogs. Steffi’s great, I will never say anything bad about Stef but they are the underdogs.” – (Roddick)

He went on to tease Agassi’s dedication to pickleball, adding,

“even in the face of Andre playing eight hours of pickleball a day for the last three years of his life. I mean, who thought it would ever come to that?” – (Roddick)

A Legacy of Friendly Competition

While Agassi and Roddick are opponents this year, they were teammates in the first Pickleball Slam in 2023, where they won over John McEnroe and Michael Chang. This year’s matchup promises to deliver top-tier gameplay and entertaining banter, as the legendary tennis stars adapt their skills to the pickleball court.
