Biloxi’s Pickleball Revolution: The Wool Market Community Complex has been a notable addition to Biloxi’s pickleball scene since May. The complex has quickly become a gathering spot for both seasoned players and newcomers. As one of three public courts in the city, it reflects the growing demand for pickleball facilities. Local resident Katie Casiano, who’s still learning the game, expressed her excitement:
“I think it’s cool. I’m still new, I’m still learning the ropes and rules and stuff. I think it’s really interesting that you make all these different connections with so many different people here throughout the day.”
The Picklr: A New Indoor Facility to Connect Players
The rise of pickleball in Biloxi is set to receive another boost with the opening of The Picklr, an indoor pickleball facility along Pass Rd. Scheduled to open on December 14th, The Picklr aims to provide a large, centralized space for players across South Mississippi to come together. David Johnston, the facility’s owner, highlighted the benefits of having a large indoor space dedicated to the sport:
“Not only can you play seven days a week, eighteen hours a day if you wanted to, it has fifteen courts so you can bring a lot more people in there. So, where you have these small groups that play in a lot of different areas, this gives you one big place where everyone can all connect as a big community and come together and play together.”
