John Cincola Shares the Dinking Pickleball Drill That Will Increase the Reaction Time

John Cincola Shares the Dinking Pickleball Drill: Professional pickleball player John Cincola shared an instructional video on Instagram, showing a cooperative dinking drill. The exercise focuses on helping players improve their efficiency and reaction time by progressively increasing the challenge.

Practicing Precision and Speed

The drill begins with players dinking cross-court in a standard pattern.

“Simple enough. Now I’m gonna kinda be an aid to Rick’s practice for now. We’re gonna take turns on this, but I’m gonna be…he’s the one gonna be the one working this drill right now.” – (John Cincola)

In the demonstration, one player stays in place while the other progressively steps closer to the kitchen line, decreasing reaction time.

“What this is doing is cutting down his reaction time. He’s gotta be more efficient to the ball. He’s gotta recover quicker, and everything’s gotta be pretty clean if he wants to do this consistently.” – (John Cincola)

Building Confidence Under Pressure

The drill intensifies as the player moves closer to the net, eventually reducing reaction time to its minimum.

“We’re taking away maximum amount of reaction time from our opponents here.” – (John Cincola)

The exercise helps players develop quicker reflexes and cleaner dinking techniques. Cincola also emphasizes versatility in practice:

“Remember, you can do this in any pattern you want. So I would suggest doing this straight ahead as well as both cross-court directions, and take turns with your partner being that person who moves forward and takes time away.” – (John Cincola)
