The PPA Tour Australia and MLP Australia are returning to the Gold Coast for a major pickleball event from June 5 to June 8, 2025. The Gold Coast Slam 2025 will take place at Voyager Tennis and Pickleball in Tweed Heads South, New South Wales, with more than $100,000 in prize money available. This competition welcomes players of all levels and includes professional matches, youth divisions, and senior categories. Registration is open now for players and spectators.
The event will also feature the third stop of the MLP Australia season. Top players from across Australia and New Zealand will compete in high-energy afternoon matches to become champions of Event 3. Spectators will see the next rounds of the MLPA Challenger and MLPA Masters Leagues, with 64 top athletes participating.
Event Format and Competition Levels
The tournament will include different skill divisions:
- 3.49 and below: Lower intermediate or new players
- 3.49 to 4.0: Intermediate players
- 4.0 to 4.49: Advanced-intermediate players
- 4.5+: Highly advanced competitors
- Pro 5.0+: Elite-level professionals
Players can also join age-based divisions:
- 18 and under
- 19 and older
- 50 and older
- 60 and older
Players can sign up for two events in a day as long as the matches are spaced four hours apart and they meet the skill requirements.
Event Schedule and Key Matches
The competition will run over four days:
- Thursday, June 5: Pro Singles (9:00 AM start)
- Friday, June 6: Pro Mixed Doubles and Singles (8:00 AM start)
- Saturday, June 7: Pro Gender Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Junior Singles (8:00 AM start)
- Sunday, June 8: Gold and Bronze Medal Matches, Junior Doubles, and MLPA Championship Match
Rules for Pro Players and Qualifiers
All pro athletes must register by May 26, 2025. Qualifying rounds for Pro Doubles and Mixed Doubles will begin at 4:00 PM on Thursday, with up to 10 spots available for teams or individuals who want to join the main draw.
Players can qualify if they are:
- Signed to MLP Australia or PPA Tour Australia
- Partnered with a contracted player
- Ranked by PPA points or DUPR
The Pro Qualifier Format will be single elimination, one game to 15, win by 2. The Pro Main Draw Format will be single elimination, best two out of three games to 11, win by 2. Bronze and gold matches will be held on Sunday.
Amateur and Masters Play
For players rated 3.0+, the format includes:
- Pool Play (to 15, win by 2)
- Elimination Rounds with gold matches (best of 3, win by 2)
For 4.0+ players, Pool Play may change if there are more than 12 teams.
The entry fee is $90 per player, with the first event free. Parking is free and available on-site.
