Local Heroes Rush to Rescue Pickleball League After Storm Soaks Sidney Courts

Mitch Winner and Dave Bell spent Thursday afternoon working hard to dry the pickleball courts at Custenborder Field in Sidney, Ohio. After a rainstorm, they used push brooms to clear the water so the Shelby County Pickleball Association League could play as planned later that evening.

Clearing the Courts After the Storm

Mitch Winner, who lives in Sidney, explained he hoped to finish drying the courts if more rain didn’t fall. He shared that wind would help speed up the process.

Dave Bell, from Anna, joined in to help get the courts ready. Both men knew players were counting on the courts being playable for league night.

Plans for New Courts

Mitch Winner said that two more pickleball courts are planned to be built next to the four already at Custenborder Field. This project is expected to happen later this year and will give more space for local players.

Community Dedication

The effort to dry the courts showed how much the local pickleball community cares about keeping the sport going, even when the weather causes problems.
