Pickleball Australia Community Partnership: PCYC Queensland and Pickleball Australia have joined together to grow the sport of pickleball across Queensland. This new partnership will make pickleball more available through 23 local PCYC clubs, offering programs for people of all ages and backgrounds in safe and welcoming environments.
Expanding Pickleball Access
The goal of this collaboration is to make pickleball easier to access across communities statewide. With support from Pickleball Queensland, all 23 PCYC Queensland clubs will begin running pickleball programs that are fun, safe, and inclusive.
To make sure all programs are high quality, PCYC Queensland staff will complete coaching training through Pickleball Australia’s national coaching system. These certified coaches will help run fun and skill-appropriate sessions for players of all levels.
Support From Both Leaders
Brendan Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Pickleball Australia, shared his excitement about the collaboration.
“I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact that PCYC Queensland has on local communities across Queensland and I am delighted that Pickleball Australia will be working with PCYC Queensland to grow pickleball whilst ensuring quality, safe programs are delivered to participants.”
Phil Schultz, Chief Executive Officer of PCYC Queensland, also expressed his support for the partnership and the sport.
“We’re incredibly proud to partner with Pickleball Australia to support a sport that brings people together and has proved extremely popular already among our members, and the children at our Fun Squads.
Pickleball is fun and inclusive, welcoming players of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to building healthier communities, and I look forward to seeing pickleball roll out at even more PCYCs across the state within our youth programs and as an additional offering for our members. This collaboration is a fantastic opportunity to offer our communities a dynamic, accessible way to get active.”
More Than Just a Sport
As part of the partnership, PCYC Queensland will gain access to coaching tools, training pathways, and other resources from Pickleball Australia. These tools will help PCYC clubs and Fun Squad Services (Outside School Hours Fun) deliver consistent and high-quality pickleball programs.
This partnership is about more than just sport. It aims to build stronger communities, promote healthy lifestyles, and help people of all ages stay active and connected.
