Hope secured the 60+ men’s singles title and teamed with Kath Daly to win the 60+ mixed doubles.
Strong Singles Performance
Stephen Hope dominated his singles campaign in the 60+ men’s division (skill 3.0-3.49). He won all five group-stage matches in first-to-11 contests. He continued his run with a 15-3 victory in the semi-final. In the championship match, he sealed gold by defeating his opponent in straight sets, 11-3, 11-6.
Mixed Doubles Success
Partnering with Kath Daly, Stephen Hope also won the 60+ mixed doubles (skill 3.5-3.99). The pair faced little resistance in the early rounds, with no team scoring more than five points against them. In the final, Hope and Daly finished strong, earning the title with scores of 11-7 and 11-8.
A Multi-Sport Talent
Beyond pickleball, Stephen Hope is an accomplished athlete. He has won the last two Campaspe Tennis Association male aggregate titles in section one. He also competes in table tennis at a high level, showing his all-round sporting ability.
Local Roots in Pickleball
Stephen Hope is a founding member of the Echuca Moama Pickleball Club, which started last month. He began playing pickleball through the Pickleball Power program led by Wayne Muschialli, who runs sessions in the region.

“I thank hitting partner Wayne Muschialli and the Bendigo Pickleball Club for helping me prepare for the Hervey Bay tournament,” he said.
