Warringah Bowling Club Pickleball Launch: Warringah Bowling Club will host the official launch of Pickleball this Sunday on its top green, aiming to revive the historic venue and bring the community together. The free family event will feature coaching, games, prizes, food, and live entertainment.
Pickleball as a New Beginning
Club Manager Liarne Peek said the introduction of Pickleball could breathe new life into the club and attract people of all ages.
“We want our Pickleball courts to breathe new life into the club, it is the world’s fastest growing sport, and whether you are five or 75, you can now pop in and play a game right here on Bradleys Head Rd.”(Liarne Peek)
The lower green will remain dedicated to lawn bowls, ensuring the club continues to support both traditional and modern activities.
Sunday’s Program
The launch day will begin at 10 a.m. with six new Pickleball courts and free coaching from World Pickleball Officials. At midday, supervised Pickleball will continue, followed by complimentary beginner lessons from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Attendees can join friendly competitions to win food and bar vouchers. From 3 p.m., party band The New Hip will perform songs ranging from Miley Cyrus to Elton John.
Children will also enjoy fairy floss, popcorn, inflatable “Foot Darts,” and other fun activities.
“The weather on Sunday is looking spectacular, and we are looking forward to welcoming local residents to Warringah Bowling Club for a spectacular family day,”
Ms Peek said.
Club Challenges
Earlier this month, Warringah Bowling Club entered administration, raising concerns it could be rezoned or sold. Ms Peek said she hopes the launch of Pickleball will inspire the community to show support.
“We want to see the community embrace the introduction of Pickleball to Warringah Bowls Club, every little bit of support we receive from locals will help save the Club.”(Ms Peek)
How Residents Can Help
The club is one of the last communal venues in Mosman, offering a heritage-rich and family-friendly environment. Residents can support it in several ways:
Visit for coffee, drinks, or meals.
Become a member for $20 per year.
Book the space for birthdays or gatherings.
Attend events like Trivia, Mahjong, Line Dancing, or Bridge.
Play or book Pickleball courts.
Share the story to encourage others to join.
Why It Matters
The launch of Pickleball offers more than just a new sport. It is a step toward saving a community landmark that has long served as a hub for locals. With community support, Warringah Bowling Club has the chance to survive and thrive as a place where tradition meets new opportunities.
