Richmond Hill to Add More Pickleball Courts—Residents Invited to Participate in Survey

Richmond Hill to Add More Pickleball Courts: Richmond Hill is seeking public input on the future of pickleball courts in the city. As pickleball grows in popularity, the city plans to expand its facilities and is asking residents to take a short survey to help decide how many additional courts are needed. The survey focuses on potential upgrades to parks like Macleod’s Landing and Newberry.

Expanding Pickleball Facilities

Over the past two years, Richmond Hill has been working to increase the availability of pickleball courts by relining existing tennis courts to accommodate both sports.

The city has successfully relined courts at Morgan Boyle Park, Grovewood Park, Oak Ridges Lions Club Park, and Russell Farm Park, allowing for dual use. This is part of the city’s broader effort to meet the growing demand for pickleball spaces.

Future Plans for More Courts

In addition to the relined courts, Richmond Hill is preparing to open four new pickleball courts at Bayview Hill Park this spring. The city also plans to add more pickleball courts as part of the revitalization of Mill Pond Park. Richmond Green Sports Centre and Park may see additional courts in the future as well. Currently, Richmond Green has outdoor seasonal courts dedicated to pickleball.

Community Programs and Participation

To support the growing community of pickleball enthusiasts, Richmond Hill offers a variety of programs. These include pickleball drop-in sessions, an adult league, and lessons at several community centers, including Rouge Woods Community Centre, Bayview Hill Community Centre, McConaghy Centre, Oak Ridges Community Centre, Langstaff Community Centre, and Elgin West Community Centre.

Getting Feedback from Residents

As pickleball continues to rise in popularity, the city wants to ensure there are enough courts to meet demand. Residents are encouraged to provide their feedback by participating in a short survey available on the city’s official website. The results will help guide future decisions on the number of pickleball courts to add to local parks.

Richmond Hill seeks input from residents on how many new pickleball courts to add. The city plans to expand facilities, including four new courts at Bayview Hill Park and potential additions at Mill Pond Park and Richmond Green. Residents can participate in a survey on the city’s website.
