Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association’s Open House at Fenwick Market Sparks Membership Surge

Niagara Indoor Club’s Open House: The Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association (NIPA) hosted an Open House on Saturday, May 24, at Concordia Academy in Fenwick. The event was held during the busy fourth annual Fenwick Market to promote pickleball and attract new members to the growing indoor club.

NIPA used the chance to connect with visitors using the Concordia Academy parking lot, which also serves as the club’s playing facility. Members played demo matches from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., giving people a chance to see the sport up close. Curious visitors were also invited to a welcome tent at the parking entrance for more details.

Promoting Pickleball to Newcomers

James Fraser, President of the Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association, said the location was ideal.

Along with live demonstrations, NIPA promoted its upcoming Beginner Clinics. The clinics are held in the Concordia Academy gym and include two two-hour lessons on Monday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Each clinic costs $25, which is refunded if the participant becomes a member.

Beginner Clinics Drive Growth

The clinics are limited to eight people and spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The next sessions with open spots are set for June 9 and 16, and June 23 and 30.

NIPA says that most people who attend a clinic choose to join the club. The success rate is high, with over 75 percent of attendees becoming members after trying the game.

To encourage new signups, NIPA also offered a discounted membership of $50 for the period from June to December. Members also pay a $5 fee per two-hour play session.

A Club Powered by Volunteers

The Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association is a non-profit club run by its members. It is an official affiliate of Pickleball Ontario. The club opened in October 2024 and is based in Concordia Academy at 1165 Centre Street in Fenwick. It now has 179 members and continues to grow.
