Ontario 55+ Pickleball Qualifier: Pickleball players aged 55 and older have a chance to qualify for the Ontario 55+ Summer Games, but first, they must compete in a regional qualifier in Azilda. The District 3 Pickleball Tournament Qualifier will be held on June 14 and 15 at the Lionel E. Lalonde Centre.
How to Qualify for the Summer Games
The event is open to doubles teams in men’s, women’s, and mixed categories. Competitions will be held in the 55+ and 65+ age groups. Teams will also be split by skill levels: 3.5 and 4.0. Players from Sudbury and Nipissing areas can enter to try and earn a spot in the Ontario 55+ Summer Games this August.
Registration Fees and Deadline
Registration costs $20 in total. This includes a $15 Ontario Senior Games Association (OSGA) membership and a $5 fee for the activity and court. There will be no refunds for those who cancel. Registration is open until June 7 or until all spots in each age, gender, and skill group are filled.
What’s at Stake
This tournament gives older players a shot at playing in a major event — the Ontario 55+ Summer Games. The Games bring together top players from across the province. Competing in the qualifier is the first step toward reaching that stage.
