Her strong performance earned her a “Golden Ticket” to join Team Saskatchewan at the national championship in Winnipeg later this summer.

Mainil Wins Three Medals in Saskatoon

Deana Mainil competed in three events during the tournament, which took place at the Henk Ruys Soccer Centre and Umea Courts. It was the biggest sanctioned pickleball tournament in Saskatchewan so far, with 380 players competing on 18 courts.

On June 6, Deana Mainil played in the women’s doubles 4.0 and over (any age group) with her partner Nellie Helms from Saskatoon. The duo took home the silver medal in their category.

The next day, June 7, she teamed up with Dave Clarke from Regina Beach for the mixed doubles 4.0 and over (ages 11 to 56). They earned the bronze medal in their group.

Close Finish in Singles Match

To end the weekend, Deana Mainil competed in the women’s full court singles 3.5 and over (age 59 and under). She finished second, earning another silver medal. She lost in the final by a close score of 21-17 to a 31-year-old player.

Her medal-winning efforts across all events helped her qualify for the Pickleball Nationals.

Because of her results at provincials, Deana Mainil was awarded a “Golden Ticket.” This special invitation gives her a spot on Team Saskatchewan for the Pickleball Nationals in Winnipeg, taking place from August 19 to 24, 2025.
