West Edmonton Pickleball Dome Opening: A new indoor pickleball facility is coming to west Edmonton, with plans to open by November 2025. The IQ Tennis and Pickleball Centre is part of a larger project led by Tennis Canada and is being built at Johnny Bright Sports Park, near Jasper Place and St. Francis Xavier High Schools.
Edmonton to Gain Indoor Pickleball Courts
The new structure will be an air-supported dome built over existing outdoor tennis courts at the sports park on 163 Street. The facility will include seven indoor pickleball courts, available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis. The goal is to provide local players with access to indoor courts during the city’s cold winter months.
Meeting a Community Need
Ivan Quintero, director of the IQ Tennis and Pickleball Centre, explained the importance of having a covered venue during Edmonton’s harsh winters.

The total cost of the project is expected to be between $4 million and $5 million. The new courts will be part of a shared space that also includes six indoor tennis courts.
Impact and What Comes Next
The new dome will give pickleball players in Edmonton a reliable place to play year-round. With the sport growing fast, the seven new courts are expected to attract both recreational and serious players. Construction is already underway, and the community can look forward to playing indoors by late fall.
