Queenston Heights Pickleball Court Opening: The new tennis and pickleball courts at Queenston Heights opened quietly on Saturday, ahead of a grand opening celebration set for July 7. The Niagara Parks Commission confirmed that the courts are now ready for play, with early use showing slow but steady interest from players.
Courts Now Open for Booking
The courts are open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Players are encouraged to book online for up to two hours per session. While walk-ins may be available, the Niagara Parks Commission suggests reserving court time in advance to avoid disappointment.
Niagara Parks Commission Chief Executive Officer David Adames visited the courts on Saturday morning to see the first games of pickleball being played. He said it made sense to keep the opening low-key, as resurfacing work was only completed the day before.
Local Players Give Early Feedback
Ron Baergen from Queenston and Lynne Brown from Toronto were among the first to try out the new pickleball courts.
“They’ve been looking so bad for so long,”. “I’ve been monitoring this since April, stopping to see how they’ve been coming. It’s good to be able to play on them.”(Ron Baergen)
David Adames, who also planned to return for a tennis match later that day, shared his thoughts on the courts’ new look and said more additions were coming.
More Features Coming Soon
Final touches still need to be added to the area. The plan includes windscreens, shaded seating, and benches to make the courts more comfortable for players and visitors.
A new Queenston Courts shop has opened at the site. Players can pay for court time there and also rent equipment if needed.
Season Details and Pricing
The Queenston Heights 2025 playing season will run until October 12, depending on the weather. Hours may change during the season.
Children under 10 can play for free but must be with an adult. Only four players are allowed per court, and all players must check in at the Queenston Heights store before playing.
Pickleball season passes cost $65 and include parking. Tennis season passes are priced at $100. Without a pass, court use costs $10 for tennis and $5 for pickleball.
What This Means for the Community
The new courts are expected to attract more players and support the growing interest in tennis and pickleball in the region. The facilities add to the recreational options available at Queenston Heights and reflect the Niagara Parks Commission’s investment in active outdoor spaces.
