Kelowna Open 2025: Four Days of High-Stakes Pickleball, New Rules, and Must-Register Deadlines Revealed

Kelowna Open 2025 Pickleball Tournament: The Kelowna Open 2025 Pickleball Tournament, presented by Cristalina PARC, will be held from July 17 to July 20, 2025, at the Parkinson Recreation Centre Outdoor Pickleball Courts in Kelowna, British Columbia. This four-day event will feature skill and age-based doubles competitions, but no singles events this year due to fewer courts.

Registration costs CAD 73.50 per player and closes on July 7 at 11:55 p.m. Pacific Time. Players must be Pickleball Canada members in good standing through July 20. All games will count toward both Canadian Tournament Pickleball Ratings and Dynamic Universal Pickleball Ratings.

Event Format and Schedule

The tournament will use a double-elimination format. On the ‘A’ side, matches will be best two out of three games to 11 points, win by two. On the ‘B’ side, matches will be one game to 15, win by two.

Players can choose to play up one skill level but not down. Players may play down in age brackets but not up. For example, if a team has one 35-year-old and one 62-year-old, they must enter the Any Age bracket. Senior players aged 60 and over can register for both Senior and Any Age events if space allows, though they may be moved out of Any Age brackets if needed.

Thursday, July 17, will include Senior Men’s Doubles, Senior Women’s Doubles, and Junior Mixed Doubles. Friday will feature Senior Mixed Doubles, Junior Boys Doubles, and Junior Girls Doubles. Saturday will host Men’s and Women’s Doubles for all ages. Sunday will finish with Mixed Doubles for all ages.

Adult players are guaranteed at least three games. Juniors will play a round-robin format with at least four games.

Additional Details and Requirements

All matches will have referees. Players can volunteer as referees by signing up online. Registration fees include a food voucher for the on-site food truck. First Aid Medics will be available throughout the tournament. The official ball will be the yellow Franklin X. Players wearing shirts or using paddles that match the ball color may need to change.

Only paddles approved by USA Pickleball are allowed. Players can check approved paddles online before registering.

Registrations will only be accepted if both team members have registered and paid within three days. After that, incomplete registrations will be moved to the waitlist.

Refund Policy

Withdrawals before the deadline will receive a refund minus a CAD 20 plus tax fee. No refunds will be given after registration closes. Weather delays or cancellations will not be refunded.

Impact and Expectations

This tournament is expected to bring together players of all ages and skill levels. It will provide competitive matches, social time, and opportunities for players to improve their ratings. With limited courts and high interest, early registration is encouraged to secure a spot.
