Qualicum Beach Rallies for New Pickleball Courts as Indoor Play Surges

Qualicum Beach Pickleball Expansion: Indoor pickleball is now available at the Qualicum Beach Curling Club. Games are held Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon, on four courts. The season runs until mid-August. Players can pay $5 per drop-in session or $50 for the full season.

Growing Pickleball Program

Players must join Pickleball Canada to play, as this covers insurance. With four courts, there is space for many players to enjoy the game each week.

The Qualicum Beach Pickleball Club is also raising money to build four outdoor pickleball courts. These courts will be open to the public when not reserved by the Qualicum Beach Pickleball Club.

Plans for New Outdoor Courts

The Town of Qualicum Beach has promised $85,000 to help pay for the courts near the Qualicum Beach Skate Park. But this funding depends on the Qualicum Beach Pickleball Club matching it with their own fundraising.

The club has set a goal to raise $100,000. So far, more than $60,000 has been collected to move the project forward.

Support From Charitable Fund

The DOBS Foundation, a charitable giving fund run by the Raymond James Canada Foundation, has made a donation to start the fundraising. It will also handle the fund and give tax receipts to people who donate.

Future Impact

Once complete, the outdoor courts will give more people in the community a place to play pickleball. The project shows how popular the sport has become in Qualicum Beach and how local groups are working together to grow it even more.
