Red Deer’s 10th Annual Pickleball Showdown Promises Fierce Competition and Fresh Surprises This August

Red Deer Pickleball Tournament 2025: The Red Deer Pickleball Club will host the 10th Red Deer Annual Open from August 7 to August 10, 2025. This four-day outdoor event will be held at Motorworks Fields, 2900-67 Street, Red Deer, Alberta. Registration ends at 4:00 p.m. MST on August 6, 2025. The entry cost is CAD 80.00, with additional fees per event.

Tournament Overview and Registration Details

The tournament welcomes players across all skill levels, offering divisions from 3.0 to Open. Matches will include men’s and women’s singles and doubles, mixed doubles, and junior events. Age groups start from 18 and under to 60+.

Registration opened on May 10, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. and is considered complete only when both team members are fully registered and paid. If the second player does not register within seven days, the team is moved to the waitlist.

“For a CONFIRMED spot in an event, both partners must be registered as a team and paid.”

Event Schedule

  • August 7: Men’s and Women’s Singles

  • August 8: Men’s Doubles

  • August 9: Mixed Doubles

  • August 10: Women’s Doubles

Events may be adjusted based on registration numbers, including combining brackets or allowing juniors to play in adult categories if needed.

Game Format and Rules

All events will follow a round robin or pool play system.

  • For 4 to 5 teams: Best 2 of 3 games to 11

  • For 6 to 7 teams: One game to 15

  • For 8 or 9 teams: One game to 15

  • For 10+ teams: Split into pools with playoffs

Only two medal matches are played:

  • 1st vs 2nd for Gold/Silver

  • 3rd vs 4th for Bronze

If split into pools, the top teams from each pool play for medals. Open events are limited to players with a minimum 4.5 rating. A one-point rating difference is allowed only in the 4.5 bracket.

“We hope to have youth brackets, but youth may play in the adult group if not enough juniors.”

Text Updates and Check-In

Players must activate text notifications under their cell phone number in their Pickleball Brackets profile. Court assignments and scores will be shared by text only. No announcements will be made during the tournament.

“Please go to ‘My Profile’ in Pickleball Brackets and ensure under your name and CELL PHONE number you select ‘Yes, I want Texts’… There will be No announcements for this tournament.”

Waitlist, Rules, and Conduct

If a bracket fills, late registrants will be waitlisted and added as space becomes available. The Red Deer Pickleball Club reserves the right to refuse service at any time.

“If you are waitlisted, we will try our best to accommodate your team, please be patient.”

Travel and Lodging Information

Special hotel rates are available at Radisson, Ramada, Holiday Inns, Staybridge Suites, and Comfort Inn and Suites. Campers can stay at Westerner Campground or Lions Campground during the tournament.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Players who withdraw before July 15, 2025, will receive a refund minus a CAD 25.00 fee. No refunds or credits will be provided after that date, no matter the reason.

“Withdrawals from the tournament before July 15, 2025, will receive a refund minus a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds or credits for any reason after July 15, 2025.”
