Ontario’s Biggest Pickleball Showdown Returns: Who Will Rise at the 2025 Provincial Championship?

The Pickleball Ontario Provincial Championship 2025 will be held from August 28 to August 31, at the Pickleplex Social Club Downsview in North York, Ontario. The event will crown provincial champions over four days of competition, with registration closing on August 21, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. EST. The registration fee is CAD 70.00 per player.

Venue and Tournament Setup

The championship will be hosted at the brand-new Pickleplex Social Club Downsview, which features 13 individually fenced courts designed for competitive play. Games will use the Franklin X40 ball, the official ball of Pickleball Ontario.

Players must be permanent residents of Ontario to compete. Each player must also be a member of Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario, with valid membership numbers linked to their pickleballtournaments.com profiles.

Format of Play

The tournament will be a skill and age-based championship. Most events will start with round robin play, feeding into a single elimination medal round, including a bronze medal match.

  • Open events will use a double elimination format.

  • Results from the Open category will count towards the 2026 Team Ontario selection process.

  • The championship is a Pickleball Canada sanctioned event, following official rules. Players must ensure their paddles are listed on the USA Pickleball approved paddle list.

Event Schedule

The competition will take place over four days:

  • August 28: Senior Men’s and Women’s Doubles (ages 50+, 60+, 70+), Senior Open Doubles, Men’s Singles (ages 18+, 30+, 40+), Men’s Singles Open

  • August 29: Senior Mixed Doubles (ages 50+, 60+, 70+), Senior Mixed Doubles Open, Women’s Singles (ages 18+, 30+, 40+), Women’s Singles Open

  • August 30: Men’s and Women’s Doubles (ages 18+, 30+, 40+), Men’s and Women’s Doubles Open, Senior Men’s Singles (ages 50+, 60+, 70+), Senior Men’s Singles Open, Junior Boys and Girls Doubles (u18, u14)

  • August 31: Mixed Doubles (ages 18+, 30+, 40+), Mixed Doubles Open, Senior Women’s Singles (ages 50+, 60+, 70+), Senior Women’s Singles Open, Junior Mixed Doubles (u18, u14)

Refund Policy

Refunds will be available until August 21, 2025. A CAD 10.00 administration fee will apply to all refunds. After the deadline, no refunds will be given for any reason, including illness, injury, or personal emergencies. Refunds will be processed weekly before the tournament.

Significance of the Championship

The Pickleball Ontario Provincial Championship is one of the most important events in the province’s pickleball calendar. It provides opportunities for athletes at all skill levels while serving as a pathway to Team Ontario 2026. By using the Canadian Tournament Player Rating (CTPR) system, the event also ensures fair competition across all age and skill categories.
