Pickleball Peeps Food Bank Victory: The Pickleball Peeps were named winners of the second annual Agassiz-Harrison Community Services (AHCS) Food Bank Challenge after collecting the most food donations this summer. The event brought in 959 pounds of food, worth $3,490.64, to help support local families in need.
Pickleball Peeps Lead Donations
The Pickleball Peeps collected 393.38 pounds of food, the largest amount among the six teams. Their total was equal to $1,431.91. To celebrate their victory, the team enjoyed a pizza party.
Other groups that joined the challenge included the District of Kent, the Agassiz Fire Department, Agassiz Elementary Secondary School, the Village of Harrison Hot Springs, and the Agassiz-Harrison Museum. Individual community members also made personal contributions to the food drive.

said AHCS food bank coordinator Ester McPherson.
The AHCS Food Bank operates by appointment. It is open on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Residents can register by calling 604-796-2585.
Donations can be dropped off at the AHCS office at 7086 Cheam Avenue from Monday to Friday, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., and again from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Only unopened, undamaged, and nutritious non-perishable items with valid best-before dates are accepted.

AHCS is a non-profit group that provides a range of services for children, youth, seniors, and families. It also supports people dealing with substance use. The Food Bank is one of its key programs, ensuring that vulnerable residents have access to healthy meals.
