Delta Eyes Major Pickleball Upgrade: More Courts and Brighter Nights Coming to Dennison Park?

Dennison Park Pickleball Court Expansion: Delta Council may expand pickleball facilities at Dennison Park in Tsawwassen. Councillor Dylan Kruger has put forward a motion, scheduled for discussion at the council’s regular meeting on September 15, seeking funding for enhanced lighting and at least four additional courts.

Current Facilities

Dennison Park currently has four dedicated regulation courts and six non-regulation courts with portable nets on tennis courts. Some courts are bookable for organized play, while others are open on a first-come, first-served basis. Across Delta, the city manages 21 dedicated regulation courts, four shared regulation courts, and 22 non-regulation courts.

Lighting Upgrades

The city has issued a request for bids this year for new LED sports field lighting. Delta has 14 playing fields with lighting, three of which have already been upgraded to LED through turf renewal programs. The remaining metal-halide systems are set to be replaced with energy-efficient LEDs that reduce maintenance and glare affecting nearby properties.

Community Impact

The proposed expansion and lighting improvements aim to enhance access, safety, and the overall playing experience for residents at Dennison Park, supporting the growing popularity of pickleball in Delta.
