Woodlawn Park Pickleball Court Opening: A new pickleball court has officially opened at Woodlawn Park in Estevan beside Fresh Air Fitness, made possible through community support and a $25,000 donation from Tundra Oil & Gas and Kingston Midstream. The court is free to use and open to all residents.
Community Support Makes Project Possible
The need for more courts in Estevan was identified by both pickleball and tennis players. Local organizers presented the idea to Woodlawn Park, which approved the plan.
The project began by raising funds from the community. After research and planning, Tundra Oil & Gas and Kingston Midstream stepped in with a $25,000 donation to cover the costs.
Construction and Features
Woodlawn Park selected the location near Fresh Air Fitness and prepared the site by clearing trees. A concrete base was poured, followed by fencing, a wind screen, and a net. Court lines were painted this week, making the surface ready for play.
Additional improvements, including signage and a special anti-slip coating, will be added soon.
Location and Accessibility
The new court is located directly south of Cossette Diamond’s left field. It is available year-round on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those waiting to play are encouraged to enjoy a walk along the Pretty trails. New players can borrow paddles and balls from the park entry gate house by leaving ID and a refundable deposit.
Encouraging Community Use
Park organizers hope the new court will attract both seasoned players and beginners. They encourage people who enjoy the facility and other amenities to support Woodlawn Park by purchasing a pass.
Lasting Impact
The project highlights the growing popularity of pickleball and the importance of community partnerships. With the court now open, residents have another free and healthy way to stay active while enjoying Estevan’s outdoor spaces.
