Canada Unites for National Pickleball Day: Coast-to-Coast Events Spark Record Participation and Community Spirit

National Pickleball Day Canada Celebrations: Pickleball, the fastest-growing sport in Canada with over 1.37 million regular players, was celebrated nationwide on Saturday, August 9, 2025, as National Pickleball Day. Communities hosted events to promote the sport, bring players together, and introduce newcomers to the game.

National Pickleball Day Celebrations Across Canada

In Pinawa, Manitoba, the Beaujesour Pickleball Club sent nine players to a three-hour connector event. A total of 21 players from two clubs mixed to play games, and organizers hope the event will become an annual tradition.

In Shediac, New Brunswick, the Shediac Pickleball Club celebrated with a 1965-themed event, marking both Canada’s National Pickleball Day and the 60th anniversary of the sport’s invention. Players used classic wooden paddles and enjoyed a corn boil and other activities.

In Niagara, Ontario, the Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association (NIPA) hosted a free all-day celebration with a complimentary BBQ for members and guests. James Fraser, President and Founder of NIPA, emphasized the club’s commitment to both pickleball and community. NIPA will run beginner clinics starting in September, offering two-session programs for $25, refundable with membership. The volunteer-run non-profit, affiliated with Pickleball Ontario, opened its Fenwick location in October 2024 and now has 189 members.

In Delta, British Columbia, the Delta Pickleball Association held its first Dream Maker Round Robin tournament at the renovated Cromie Park courts. Nearly 140 players participated in a Major League Pickleball-style format, forming teams of six across skill levels (2.0–3.0+) for fair and fun play. The event included lunch, socializing, and raised $1,260 for the Delta Community Animal Shelter. With over 900 active members, the Delta Pickleball Association continues to promote fun, social play, player development, and advocacy for the sport at all levels of government.
