Dennison Park Pickleball Court Expansion: Delta council has approved a motion that could lead to more pickleball courts at Dennison Park in Tsawwassen. The decision came at the Sept. 15 meeting as council recognized high demand for courts and the need for better lighting to allow evening and seasonal play.
Proposed Expansion and Upgrades
Councillor Dylan Kruger suggested adding at least four permanent pickleball courts and enhancing lighting at Dennison Park.
“As community needs and preferences change, we have to adapt. The reality is the growth in the sport of pickleball has been unprecedented. While it truly is a sport for all ages, it’s also encouraging our senior citizens to stay active and live healthy lifestyles,” (Dylan Kruger).
The proposal is backed by letters from local pickleball players, some of which were printed in the Optimist. Kruger added,
“Through my many conversations with pickleball players throughout our community, Dennison Park has consistently been identified as a high-demand area that could be, and should be, prioritized for expansion.”
Support and Future Planning
Mayor George Harvie expressed support, noting the expansion will be part of Delta’s 25-year parks and recreation master plan. City staff will include the Dennison Park court expansion and lighting in the 2026-2030 Financial Plan for council review during the upcoming budget planning workshop.
