The UPTOWN VRPA Christmas Pickleball Tournament is set for December 14-15, 2024, and will take place at the G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre in Victoria, BC. This non-sanctioned pickleball event is exclusively for current VRPA members, with a cap of 64 players each day, ensuring a vibrant and competitive atmosphere for all participants.

Exclusive Members-Only Event
This pickleball event is strictly open to VRPA members, and non-members will be refunded (minus processing fees). To ensure maximum participation, each registrant may only play on one of the two days:
- Day 1: For advanced players (higher intermediate to advanced level)
- Day 2: For less advanced players (beginner to lower intermediate level)
- Self-assessed player levels
Each player will compete with 7 different partners, ensuring a diverse and dynamic competition. The day includes a minimum of 12 games with check-in starting at 7:30 AM and play beginning promptly at 8:00 AM. Timeliness is crucial to ensure smooth operations.
Event Format and Play Details
- Round-Robin:
- 3 round-robin sessions of 3 games each, with a different partner in each session.
- Games are played to 9 points, win by 1.
- Players record their team scores on individual scoresheets and report them to the scoring desk after each round.
- Playoff Qualification:
- After lunch, players will be assigned to Division A or B based on earlier performance.
- The top 8 teams from both divisions advance to the playoffs.
- Playoff qualification games are played to 11 points, win by 1.
- Single-elimination playoff games are played to 11 points, with medal games reaching 15 points.
Registration and Refund Policy
- Registration Fee: CAD 40
- Registration Period: Opens November 16, closes November 25
- Players will be randomly assigned partners and compete in Coed Doubles.
- Refund Policy: Players withdrawing before November 25, 2024, will receive a refund minus banking and transaction fees. No refunds will be issued after November 25, 2024.
