CNPL’s 2025 Okanagan Showdown, Pickleball Heats Up in Vernon

CNPL’s 2025 Okanagan Showdown: The Okanagan Showdown, a premier pickleball tournament presented by the Canadian National Pickleball League (CNPL), will take place on March 29, 2025, at the Vernon Pickleball Association in British Columbia. With registration open and limited spots remaining, players of all skill levels are gearing up for a day of competition, camaraderie, and potential career-defining opportunities.

Thrilling Tournament Format

The event will follow a team-based format, with participants competing in squads of four—two men and two women. Players can register as a team or sign up individually to be matched with teammates.

The competition will include two mixed doubles games and two gendered doubles games, with all matches played to 21 points using rally scoring.

The tournament will be divided into two stages. In the first stage, 30 teams will compete in a round-robin format across six pools. Each team will play every other team in its pool before being ranked from first to fifth.

The second stage will feature bracket play, where teams will be grouped based on their rankings, ensuring competitive matchups across all skill levels. Every team is guaranteed at least five matches, providing ample opportunity for players to showcase their abilities.

Opportunities Beyond the Court

In addition to battling for prizes and bragging rights, participants will have the chance to impress CNPL scouts.

The top-performing players could earn invitations to join professional pickleball teams, marking a significant step toward a career in the sport.

Community Involvement and Event Logistics

The Okanagan Showdown is also calling for volunteer scorekeepers to help ensure smooth gameplay. The tournament venue, the Okanagan Wealth Advisors Pickleball Complex, is the only facility to be featured in every CNPL pre-season, making it a fitting location for such a prestigious event.

One important rule for participants is the mandatory use of protective eyewear, emphasizing safety during the fast-paced matches.

The registration deadline for the tournament is March 21, 2025, but with only 18 spots remaining, organizers are urging interested players to secure their places quickly. Refunds will be available until February 28, after which they will be granted at the organizers’ discretion.

A Major Event for Pickleball Players

With competitive play, professional scouting opportunities, and a passionate pickleball community, the Okanagan Showdown promises to be a major event in the 2025 pickleball calendar.

As the tournament date approaches, excitement continues to build among players eager to test their skills and take their game to the next level.
