Lawyer Turned Pickleball Star: Dipti Srivastava, a professional lawyer by trade, is making waves at the 4th IPA Nationals Pickleball Tournament, held at Bennett University. Despite her legal career, Srivastava has managed to shine in pickleball, reaching new heights in this fast-growing sport.

A Former Tennis Player’s Transition to Pickleball

Srivastava, who began her sporting journey with tennis at the age of 8 or 9, made the switch to pickleball after years of playing tennis.

“May be February. But we all are former tennis players. We started tennis when we were like 8 or 9.” – (Dipti Srivastava)

She explained that the transition to pickleball felt natural due to the similarities between the two racket sports.

Though she is a full-time lawyer, Srivastava has always maintained a passion for sports.

“For me, I mean, we do play, I do play tennis over the weekends. I’m actually a professional lawyer. I’m a cop lawyer working in a law firm. I love sports. I think sports is ingrained. So, I mean, you see that as a player.” – (Dipti Srivastava)

For Srivastava, pickleball is a perfect outlet to combine her passion for sports with her demanding professional career.

Impressive Performance at the 4th IPA Nationals

Teaming up with Danielle Jones for West Bengal, Srivastava and Jones secured a runner-up finish in the women’s open team event. The pair demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skill throughout the tournament, underscoring the growing interest in pickleball among players from diverse backgrounds.

Pickleball’s Bright Future in India

When asked about the future of pickleball in India, Srivastava expressed optimism.

“It looks very bright, I would say. Because, honestly, anybody here can pick it up. It’s a sport that is easy to pick up but difficult to master. So, mastering this sport will require practice.” – (Dipti Srivastava)

She emphasized that mastering pickleball requires dedication and practice, but its accessibility makes it an attractive option for players of all ages and skill levels.

“So, anybody who wants to, you know, get to the top and be at the top. you need to put in that effort. So, that’s the good part. Anyone can play.” – (Dipti Srivastava)
