Delhi’s Akhil Mathur dominates to claim men’s singles title at the 4th IPA Nationals, held at Bennett University in Greater Noida. Mathur delivered a stunning performance, defeating Uttar Pradesh’s Sanjay Tuli in the final with a score of 11-1, 11-0.
Impressive Tournament Journey
Mathur, seeded second with a DUPR rating of 4.671, showcased his dominance throughout the tournament. He lost only five points during the knockout stages, highlighting his skill and consistency.
His campaign started with a remarkable 11-0 victory against SB Sharma in the pre-quarterfinal. He continued his impressive run by defeating Manish Aggarwal 11-2 in the quarter-finals and sixth-seeded Menon (DUPR 4.019) by the same scoreline in the semi-finals.
Sanjay Tuli’s Remarkable Run
Sanjay Tuli, who entered the tournament unseeded with a DUPR rating of 3.671, had an impressive journey to the finals. He knocked out top seed Nilesh Desai (DUPR 4.7) in a nail-biting quarter-final match, winning 11-10.
Tuli continued his success by defeating fourth seed Jasminder Singh (DUPR 4.211) in the semi-final with a confident score of 15-8, and he had earlier beaten unseeded Satyakam Goswami 11-4 in the Round of 16.
