Pickleball Takes Ahmedabad by Storm: The New Nightlife Sensation

Pickleball Takes Ahmedabad by Storm: Pickleball is reshaping Ahmedabad’s social scene, replacing traditional late-night outings with a fun and active alternative. The sport has seen rapid growth across the city, with over 50 facilities offering pickleball courts. Many players now prefer late-night games, making pickleball a new way to stay fit and socialize.

A Growing Phenomenon

The sport, which blends elements of table tennis, tennis, badminton, and squash, has gained immense popularity. Its simplicity and accessibility make it appealing to people of all ages. Many residents have turned to pickleball for fitness and recreation, leading to a surge in demand for courts with top-notch amenities.

Pickleball facilities in Ahmedabad charge between ₹300 and ₹2,000 per hour, with lower rates in the mornings and afternoons. Most courts stay open around the clock, but peak hours are after 9 pm, when people gather for an energetic and social atmosphere.

Players Share Their Experiences

For many, pickleball has become more than just a game—it’s a lifestyle. Trushit Thakar, an enthusiastic pickleball player, shared,

“I played sports before 8 years and that was cricket, one of my friends invited me to play pickleball. Now, for the past one-and-half years this is the only sport that has got me excited about playing and then age has no bar. You don’t need any technique. If you are not a player, just step into the game and you are good to go. Post-Covid being healthy is important, so playing sports has always been a part of a healthy lifestyle and if you have good friends around you, you are good to go.” – (Trushit Thakar)

Roop Patel, a real estate developer, highlighted how playing at night boosts his energy, saying,

“We play at night, and in the morning, we feel refreshed. It’s a great way to kickstart the day.” – (Roop Patel)

Changing the Social Landscape

The rising popularity of pickleball is shifting the city’s nightlife habits. Sameer Singh, co-owner of Vista, a well-known pickleball facility, noted,

“There are over 50 facilities now, and most people prefer playing after 9 pm. With no pubs around, pickleball has become the ideal activity for people to chill and hang out with friends. It’s simple, social, and a great way to unwind.” – (Sameer Singh)

Shenal Jhaveri, a partner at Shaishya Pulse Arena, emphasized the sport’s inclusivity, stating,
