A team chosen by the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) won big at the 2025 World Pickleball Championship in South Korea. Held at the Seogwipo Tennis Center in Jeju-do from June 5 to 8, the Indian team earned four medals—two gold and two silver.
Strong Results on the Global Stage
Kuldip Mahajan was the top performer, winning gold in two events. He teamed up with Ryan Iam from Hong Kong in the Men’s Doubles 19+ and with Vrushali Thakare in the Mixed Doubles 19+. These wins made him one of the standout players of the tournament.
India also won two silver medals. Sonu Kumar Vishwakarma earned silver in the Men’s Singles 19+, and Vrushali Thakare added another silver in the Women’s Doubles 19+ with Angie Bong from Indonesia.
Tough Competition Across Asia
This Tier 3 event, organized by Pickleball Global, featured over 230 skilled players from several Asian countries. Competitors came from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, and Singapore.
The finals were held on Sunday, June 8, with top players battling for medals in several categories.
Support from the Association
Arvind Prabhoo, president of the All India Pickleball Association, praised the team’s efforts.
“It is truly heartening to witness our athletes rise to the occasion and deliver such world-class performances on an international stage. These victories are not just medals—they are milestones in India’s growing stature in the global pickleball community. We are proud of our champions who continue to put Indian pickleball on the world map with grit, grace, and excellence.” – (Arvind Prabhoo)
A Rising Force in the Sport
India’s performance in South Korea shows the country’s rise in international pickleball. AIPA continues to support and train athletes who can succeed on the global stage.
At the same time, AIPA is fighting a legal battle with the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) over official recognition. AIPA says the IPA was formed only five months ago but has already been recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. AIPA is now challenging this decision in the Delhi High Court.
