Dimapur Pickleball Workshop: The Nagaland Pickleball Association (NPA) held its first-ever pickleball workshop in Dimapur on Saturday, marking a major step forward for the sport in the state. The free session took place at Aiko Greens from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and was led by Dilip Mohanty, a certified PPR coach from the United States. The workshop welcomed players of all ages and backgrounds and did not require registration.
First Steps in Coaching
Organized in partnership with the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), the session aimed to introduce basic skills and gameplay to new players. Dilip Mohanty taught participants key techniques, movement strategies, and game rules. A real-time demonstration helped attendees experience how the game is played.
“Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and seeing the excitement and energy here in Nagaland gives us confidence that the sport has a bright future in the Northeast,” said Mohanty.
Building Community and Looking Ahead
This workshop also served as a lead-up to the 1st Nagaland Pickleball Open Tournament, scheduled to be held on Sunday at the same location. According to the Nagaland Pickleball Association, the event was more than just a training session—it was a community-building effort.
The association thanked all those who joined and supported the event. NPA also announced that plans are underway to expand structured pickleball training to other districts in the state.
Growing Sport, Growing Opportunities
The success of the first workshop shows a growing interest in pickleball in Nagaland. By bringing in an international coach and organizing public events, NPA is laying the foundation for a strong local pickleball scene. With more tournaments and training planned, the sport may soon become a regular part of life in the Northeast.
