Indian Pickleball Association Nationwide Expansion: The Indian Pickleball Association, officially recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, has launched Centres of Excellence across India to grow the sport. These new centres aim to support training, tournaments, and job creation in pickleball, reaching more regions and athletes nationwide.
Centres of Excellence Established Nationwide
The Indian Pickleball Association, a Class A member of the Global Pickleball Federation, has opened regional Centres of Excellence in New Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, West Bengal, and Assam. The main National Centre for Excellence is located in Gujarat. These centres will help train players and coaches and promote pickleball’s growth in each region.
The Indian Pickleball Association plans to expand into Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh in the coming months, further increasing access to high-level training.
Over 60 Tournaments Organised in 3 Months
In just the last three months, the Indian Pickleball Association has held more than 60 tournaments across India. Events took place in states like Jammu and Kashmir, New Delhi, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. The Northeast has also seen major progress, especially with tournaments in Assam and Nagaland.
These tournaments show how fast pickleball is growing in all parts of the country.
Coach and Referee Certification Programmes Coming Soon
To help grow the sport properly, the Indian Pickleball Association will start certification programmes for coaches and match officials. These programmes, supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, will help people learn the right skills and offer new jobs for those interested in the sport.
First Official Pickleball Nationals in the Works
The Indian Pickleball Association is now preparing for the first-ever National Pickleball Tournament. This event will be a big moment in Indian pickleball history and will bring together top players from across the country.
The Indian Pickleball Association is also working hard to bring the sport to more districts and schools. They aim to include pickleball in major government programs like the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Khelo India, and Khel Mahakumbh.
Suryaveer Singh Bhullar, President of the Indian Pickleball Association, said, “The momentum we’ve generated in the past two months is a testament to the dedication of our team and the growing enthusiasm for pickleball across India. Our focus is clear: to establish a strong, sustainable framework for pickleball that not only nurtures talent but also creates pathways for individuals to excel, both on and off the court. We are committed to working hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and other stakeholders to make pickleball a household sport in India.”
Growth Expected to Continue
The Indian Pickleball Association’s efforts show its commitment to building a solid future for the sport. With more centres, events, and training programmes planned, pickleball is set to become more popular and accessible in India. The focus is not just on competition, but also on education, employment, and inclusion in national sports initiatives.
