Record-Breaking Turnout Energizes Punjab State Pickleball Championship—Young Stars Shine in Fierce Battles

Punjab State Pickleball Championship 2024: More than 170 players from across Punjab competed for top honors at the 2nd Punjab State Pickleball Championship, held at the GRD Academy ground on Hambran Road. The two-day tournament showcased both young and experienced talent in an atmosphere of excitement and competition.

The championship was inaugurated by local industrialist and sports promoter Harsimerjit Singh. Sonia Alag, joint secretary of the Punjab Pickleball Association, and Vikramjit Singh, general secretary of the Punjab Pickleball Association, attended as guests of honor. Officials of the Ludhiana District Pickleball Association were also present.

Highlights of Boys’ Matches

In the U-14 singles, Angad secured first place, followed by Bilawal in second and Radhesh in third. In doubles, Radhesh and Naman took first place, while Angad and Gurpreet placed second, and Hardik and Dakshveer finished third.

In the U-16 singles, Ashish won the top spot. Shaurya came second and Vivaj placed third. In doubles, Vatsal and Namish won first place, followed by Vaibhav and Shaurya in second, and Taamish and Ryan in third.

In the U-19 singles, Ashish once again claimed the top position. Pranav finished second, and Manvir came third.

In the men’s singles, Maehav Sharma earned the top spot. Sehajpreet Singh took second place, while Raghav Singla finished third. In doubles, Akshat Sharma and Yuvraj Bhardwaj placed first, Madhav Sharma and Sehajpreet Singh came second, and Pranav and Ashish finished third.

Highlights of Girls’ Matches

In the U-14 singles, Aadya won first place, Aishley took second, and Navreet placed third. In doubles, Aishley and Asees won the title, with Aadya and Trinav finishing second.

In the U-16 singles, Stuti claimed the top spot, followed by Aadi in second and Angel in third. In doubles, Stuti and Aadi won first place. Amiti and Sanya finished second, while Asees and Jasleen came third.

In the women’s singles, Aadi secured first place. Sumidha came second, and Angel and Sanya shared the third position.

Importance of the Event

The large turnout showed the rapid rise of pickleball in Punjab. The event highlighted young players’ enthusiasm and created opportunities for community engagement through sport. Organizers believe the championship will inspire more players to join and strengthen pickleball’s presence across the state.
